Meditation for Beginners*
-a four week introductory course

A four week exploration and experience of what ‘meditation’ is (and what it isn’t) - all from the comfort of your own home
Have you ever wondered what meditation actually is, or thought, ‘I’m no good at meditating’, or that you ‘can’t meditate’? You’re not alone!
But would more clarity, stillness and calm help you navigate life’s daily struggles? Would you like to discover more about techniques to help you notice and regulate your busy mind and upsetting or irrational reactions?
During this four week course, we’ll aim to let go of the word ‘meditation’ and we’ll discuss and discover together what it means to simply be still and ‘do’ nothing.
Over time, and with repeated practice, we can develop the tools to deal better with anxious thoughts, stress, depression and all the other general busy-ness that life throws at us. Sound good?
WHAT’S INVOLVED
Each week, I will introduce and/or review some of the beliefs, misconceptions, and techniques around meditation, or ‘sitting’. Then we will practise together before having time to discuss, share and ask questions. It will be an interactive, shared experience, with a balance of talking and practice of quiet group meditation.
THE PRACTICALITIES
The course will run online, via Zoom, for four Mondays starting the 27th October, from 6.30-7.30pm (UK).
Participating online will allow you to feel completely comfortable in your own home, and I encourage you to make your space as calm and ‘undisturbable’ as possible.
The cost is £49 for the complete course. Full payment details will be shared upon signing up, along with a brief course outline.
ALL are welcome, whether you’ve done absolutely no yoga or meditation before, or are a seasoned ‘experimenter’. *The course is billed for beginners but no-one is a ‘beginner’ in their SELF! Please trust that whatever your experience, apprehensions or assumptions, you are welcome on this course.
Please note, attendance on all four sessions is expected, to mirror the commitment required for a lasting, beneficial meditation practice. Skipped weeks/sessions are non-refundable.
WHO AM I?
I’m Sue, and alongside the rest of my life, I’ve been navigating a yoga and meditation path for over 10 years now. It’s my strong belief that these invaluable practices should be open to all, and I believe it’s important to dispel some of the myths and frankly, nonsense, around all things ‘yogic’. (By the way, for me, yoga IS a form of meditation, just with a bit more movement occasionally!) You can read a bit more about me here.
Don’t just take my word for it!..
‘I really enjoyed the course, the structure helped me get into a routine and also to be more comfortable with what, and how I was doing. In particular I got a deeper appreciation of the value meditation can bring to my health and wellbeing.’
Christine
‘I loved the meditation sessions with Sue because they honestly felt like a warm hug to myself. I find it SO hard to 'be' in the moment and yet Sue made it not seem like hard work at all. It gave me the confidence to keep on trying and just enjoying seeing where I end up in my relationship with being aware and present. I would highly recommend Sue's meditation classes.’
Sima
‘I’ve definitely noticed a difference since starting these sessions; I can catch myself now, during the day, when I’m overthinking, or about to start worrying about something, and I can feel the awareness that I have the control as to how to react or continue. Literally just in the last three weeks of doing this practice, I can feel a change; there’s a realisation that my mind isn’t ‘me’ and it doesn’t have to control me.’
